Happy Mother’s Day!

Good news travels far!

Let me introduce you to Carla… Carla is the person on the other side of the email or telephone when you place your order. The sweet voice that talks you through everything and helps you whenever she can.

Well, the good news is that Carla has moved from Durban to Wilgeheuwel (Roodepoort). Now it will be a lot easier for clients in and around that area to pick up their orders. (Please note that Carla will not be doing deliveries) We do ask that you bare with her as she unpacks and gets everything up and running. For the rest of our clients, Carla will keep posting the product to you until there is a Guardian Angel in your area.

Mixing Pigments

We have found that a few of our clients are struggling with the mixing of Pigments as the DVD is not very clear. Here are a few pointers regarding the mixing of Pigment with One Step Gel:

Always use more One Step Gel than Pigment when mixing a colour Gel. Too much Pigment will result in the Gel not curing. Start with the ratio 1:3(one part Pigment to 3 parts One Step Gel) The One Step Gel carries the curing agent, the ingredient that sets the Gel in the UV Lamp, NOT the Pigment.

When mixing Pigment with your One Step Gel always do one nail from start to finish ensuring that the colour density is as you desire. You will get the right colour density by applying 2-3 thin layers of colour Gel…. NOT 1 thick layer.

  1. After nail preparation and application of Bonder, apply one layer of One Step Gel and cure for 2 minutes. Use your Gel Brush or Nail Wipe to wipe of the stickiness of your first layer of One Step Gel as you would do when applying a French Manicure Overlay. (Newsletter March/April 2008 available on our Website)
  2. Apply the first layer of colour Gel. Note that this layer will look “see-through” and uneven, but as you add layers the colour will get darker and even out. Remember to cure in between each colour Gel layer and always end your Overlay with a layer of One Step Gel, to ensure a smooth finish.

First layer of colour is really
see-through compared to
the Pigment

The Second layer is more
solid but still should be as dark
as the Pigment

Example with no. 8 Red Opal
